Rules of the game ...
Who can play?
Teams can be of mixed ages and genders, but no younger than 5yrs old, adult supervision is needed for under 18's.
Any team combination is great, i.e. All males, all female, mixed male and female (unless specified by event organiser).
Number of players
A squad should consist of no more that 10 people with 5 players on the pitch at all times.
Each side can have an agreed number of rolling substitutions (normally maximum of 5 per game).
Substituted player can be re-used at anytime, substitutions may only be made when the ball is 'dead' at a natural breakdown in play, or at half time with the referee's knowledge.
How long to play for?
A match is to be made up of 2 halves; each half should last for 5 minutes, with a 1 minute interval at half time. In finals halves can be up to 10 minutes with a 2 minute interval.
How big is the pitch?
The recommended pitch size for competitive games is 60 meters in length by 30 meters in width, though can be adjusted to suit the size of beach available.
For training and fun games the pitch size may be varied but the pitch should always be large enough to allow lots of space for running and evasion and the key elements of beach tag rugby.
